Hill Farm, 10 November 1789 at Normanton on SoarFrom family records "Joseph Stubbs son of William and Catherine Stubbs born Nov 10 1789 at the Hill Farm Normanton-on-Soar. He married Sarah daughter of Mrs Henry Wale, a farmer of Oakleywood near Sheepshed by whom he had seven sons and four daughters, Joseph, William, John, Samuel, Mary, Henry, Catherine, George, Ebeneza and Ann. He died Sept 13 1865 at Normanton-on-Soar and was buried in the Baptist burying ground at East Leake, Nottinghamshire" On the 1841 census he is a farmer. It looks as if some of the children died young. In 1861 he is listed as a brick and lime burner and has 2 grandchildren staying with him and his wife viz Freeman J Cook, 7 and Ann, 11. Ann's father is Samuel who is a tailor in Loughborough. Can't find Joseph on the 1851 and 1871 census. |
