Narrative

In the 1861 census (if I have the right person but there doesn't seem to be any other candidates) he is married to Mary Ann and there are sons William 14, John 13, Frederick, 9 and daughters Ellen and Sarah 7 and 2. He is described as a Master Tailor and they are living at 92 Baxtergate, Loughborough. In the 1881 census there is a Samuel Stubbs b. c1821 in Normanton-on-Soar who is a retired tailor and living at 83 Cabden (sic) should be Cobden St, Loughborough with his wife Mary, their daughter Ellen b. c1854 and who is employed as a shop assistant (fancy good and textiles) and Sarah N. Stubbs who is also described as a shop assistant and daughter although her age is given as 2. The original looks as if it is 22 though which makes more sense and there is a Sarah who is 2 in the 1861 census MS has his wife as Mary Ann Allen as does JS and I have taken his birth date and year of death from this source too.
