Living in Rempstone in 1871 census
Married 3 times. Catherine who had John Joseph, then Ann Egglestone who had William and then Mary. In the 1851 census he is married to Catherine and in the 1861 he is married to Mary and at first galnce it looks as if Mary is William's mother. However, the family records and Ann's bible reveal the three marriages. A Henry Stubbs was married in the Loughborough area in 1849, 1853 and 1857. I haven't seen these marriage certificates but the dates would check. In the 1851 census there is a Thomas Stubbs living with the family who is described as "father-in-law" I can't read his occupation but it is some sort of smith - not blacksmith.
